Playroom Organization

& Design

play through a developmental lens

As a pediatric occupational therapist, I look at playroom organization through a developmental lens. Play is the foundation of learning. It’s how children build fine and gross motor skills, develop sensory processing, and learn to plan and sequence their actions. By organizing your play space with your child’s sensory and motor needs in mind, we can:

  • Promote focus and independent play by reducing clutter and visual distractions

  • Encourage a variety of play types (sensory, constructive, pretend, and social play) through purposeful toy placement

  • Support developmental skills like hand-eye coordination, balance, and attention

  • Improve self regulation by incorporating activities and toys that support your child’s unique sensory needs

  • Foster a sense of calm and confidence by creating predictable routines and accessible materials

  • Maximize your space so it feels functional, beautiful, and easy to maintain

Mini Refresh (2–4 hours): $300–$400- includes toy decluttering, developmental layout suggestions, sensory recommendations, and basic organization.

Playroom Overhaul (5-8 hours): $600–$1,000 - includes full reorganization, toy categorization, sensory-friendly layout, and labeling system.
